Dentistry/crowning a tooth before braces

Question
Hi, my 17yr old daughter is waiting to get braces on as soon as dental work is finished.the orthodontist doesn't want tooth #10 crowned yet, it was root canaled about 4 yrs ago. he said it will be fine. But my dentist says if he doesn't crown it, it could break with the pressure and she'll have to have it pulled and have no tooth in front of her mouth. So dentist won't fill tooth #11 unless he can crown #10 with it, and he said he will line the 2 teeth up.so he told me to contact ortho again, but he wasn't in. i left a message. Can you give me advise.Thank you.

Answer
You have to get the two drs on the same page.Personally I would not want a finished crown on #10 until the ortho is done.If Dr is concerned about possible fracture go for the post and crown but only have the provisional(temporary)placed at this time. After the ortho THEN have the finished crown done.Don't proceed until they confer with each other.
