Dentistry/swollen red gums

Question
I went to the dentist thinking I had a cavity because my gums didn't seem sore.  Now 4 days later, I have swollen red gums that look like they have been cut or sizzled.  What is going on? No type of pain reliever works, from Tylenol to darvicet nor does the ambisol or ladicane

Answer
Hi Dana,

Did you see a dentist? If so, what did he/she say?

What you are describing may be one of a few things;
- You might have a deep cavity, that has extended past the tooth into the surrounding gums. If so, then you either need a root canal or to have the tooth extracted.

OR

- You might be having some sort of breakout such as herpes, etc.

In either case, you need to see a dentist ASAP to have this diagnosed and treated. If no dentist is open where you are, then go to a local emergency room.

Please let me know if you need more help.
