Question I had a "dark" spot on a molar which my dentist said looked questionable. This same molar had worn down and there was a space between the next tooth which allowed food to always get caught. We decided to fill the space so there would be minimal space between the teeth and also fill the dark spot. As a result I have jaw pain and I can feel the filling with my tongue and when I bite down. I dread going back in because it was REALLY painful. I had not had a tooth filled since I was a kid and forgot how much I hated it.
Why does my jaw really hurt and will the wierd feeling of the filling go away or wear down?
Answer Ok, first of all, your tongue can feel the filling because before it there was a hole. It's just something you'll get used to in a few weeks.
Second, the pain may be due to a filling that is too high and is bumping into the opposing teeth to early. Have this checked.
