Question I have a crack in the base of one my bottom molars. I was told that I need the tooth removed and an implant placed as the best option. I am trying to get pregnant and am wondering if I should have this done now or can it wait. I am not having any problems with the tooth otherwise.
Answer HI
In my opinion, you should get this taken care of now, before pregnancy. A cracked tooth can lead to an infection, which would require emergency treatment and medication. Once the cracked tooth is removed and the area heals, there is little chance of it causing a problem. The question to place the implant before or after pregnancy is someting you should discuss with your dentist, but regardless of the implant, the tooth should probably be taken out.
