Question I had a crown put on 7 months ago, #19, he adjusted it 3 times and it still hurts. It is hurting around my gums and is sore, he states there is nothing wrong with it and the nerve is fine.
It feels too high but he states it is not. The crown is bigger than my other normal teeth and my other crowns.
It feels like it moves when I eat. The dentist stated all teeth move. When I eat it feels like I get a gap between my teeth on each side of the crown.
It irritates my gums just around where the crown has been placed, what could cause this to feel like the crown is digging into my gums and moving?
Is this normal to feel pain in the gums for 7 months from the crown?
Answer Dear kayla,
No, it is not normal to experience pain for 7 months after crown placement. Sadly, some dentists are unable to critically review the fruits of their own labor, and it would appear that your dentist's denial of your symptoms places him in that category.
I suspect that another dentist whose own ego is not invested in your prior dental service would be able to provide a more candid assessment of the quality of the treatment you received. Just what you do with that information is up to your discretion, but your current dentist is clearly not interested in either your comfort or welfare, and you would do well to find a new dentist for your future care.
