Dentistry - Repeat Apicectomy
Expert: Frederick R. Liewehr DDS, MS, FICD - 11/6/2009
Question I had a repeat Apicectomy (eights days back) on my right inscisor and Canine as I developed a cyst at the root tip after the first surgery that was done post a failed root canal treatment. I dont have any pain, but i feel a slight discomfort as there is some numbness near the nose area and i find it odd to talk :). Is this a normal condition post the surgery? how successful do you think will be this repeat Apicectomy?
thanks,
Kavitha
Answer I would have no way of evaluating the chance of success of your surgery. If you have had multiple failures on a simple tooth like that, it is likely that either the root is cracked or that you may need to see a different dentist. Altered sensation in a recently surgerized area is normal.
