Dentistry - crowns and bite

Expert: Jeff Dalin DDS - 11/11/2009

Question
Hello,
When crowns are adjusted to accommodate for one's bite, does the dentist remove much?  Is this ever bad for the crown?  In other words, can the 'adjustment' weaken the crown or affect its structural integrity?
Ta, Christina

Answer
if you do very minor adjustments, it does not hurt things. but the dentist has to have a good idea of how much he/she is adjusting. you never want to do too much. but a small amount does not hurt anything.

let me know if you have any further questions.
