Dentistry - Front tooth ache

Expert: Gary Backlund, DMD, MSD - 11/6/2009

Question
I was hit in the mouth playing football about 2 years ago that bent one of my front teeth back just slightly. No other trauma was really involved though. Over the past week i've started to notice an ache (not realling pain or sensitivity) in that tooth. Could this be late signs of nerve damage?

Answer
Hi Shawn,

I'm sorry you're going through all this. Yes, you tenderness could  be related to problems with the tooth. Trauma is a really difficult thing to deal with, because there can be effects years after the actual incident. I would suggest that you get an evaluation from an endodontist, rather than your general dentist, because general dentists really don't see much trauma in their practices....at least not as much as us endodontists.

Good luck!
