Question
My question is, is there a SPECIFIC reference that answers the question if a Dentist has to see a patient before an assistant can take X-rays or is the assistant able to take X-rays (not an
emergency Xray)before the Dentist examines the patient.

Answer
It may vary by state but here in NY the dentist could request the x ray be taken without or before the exam.
Contact the ADA and they should be able to guide you with a specific reference.
After answering thousands of questions this is the first time anybody as ungrateful as you rated the FREE,Voluntary,Timely answer in such a way.Shame on you!
