Dentistry/Toothache from filling

Question
Hello Dr. Dalin. I had a filling done by the army and it feels as though it's not in place correctly. It is causing a lot of pain and my gums are becoming swollen. At first I though it could be from my wisdom tooth but the pain is deffenintly from the tooth that has the filling. I was wondering how does it feel when there's a loose filling? My throat has been sore and I'm starting to get a fever and upset stomach... Just wondering if all this is related to my toothache? He said he had to drill down close to the bottom of my tooth. He placed something like the white filling then silver over it. Said it would help with pain. Well, thanks for your time and hope to hear from you soon.

Answer
sounds like this could be a root canal issue. sounds like the dentist gave you a heads up about this by saying he was close to the bottom or nerve. usually will not cause sore throat or stomach issues. will cause swelling and pain. you might have a double whammy going on here: bad tooth and maybe getting the flu. call the dentist and report this and see what he wants you to do. you might need a visit to the root canal specialist. do not put this off...no reason to suffer. make the call. good luck,
