Question
So,My wisdom teeth were removed about 2 weeks ago now,and after the 3rd day it was apparent i had dry socket in the bottom left of my mouth. So,went back to the place where i had the surgery done, and they packed it with a gauze with clove oil.made me and appointment for 4 days later (Which I read re-packing is needed every 48 hours to prevent toxic shock syndrom)I went back 4 days later and told them, but they basically said that information is false or something.Well They repacked it,and made me an appointment for 5 days later.Well, something came up,and i missed to appointment.I just went ahead and took the gauze out on my own,but i think it might be to late. And now, there is a gaping hole in my mouth, will it close on its own?? Thank you!!!!

Answer
Michael -  With the medication treatment for a dry socket, there is always a hole after the gauze is removed.  That hole will eventually close, but you have a job to do.  You need to keep the area clean by rinsing with warm salt water after every meal and a couple of more times during the day, like before bed.  The hole will close, but it could take a few months.

So do the rinsing and I think you will see an improvement with time.
