Question
My husband noticed a small round black spot in his mouth. He never saw it before. Its probably the size of a pea.its on his right side by top tooth so he doesn't think he bit cheek or anything like that. What can it be? Is this something to be concerned about? Should he seek medical treatment?
Dear Lori:
As with any condition, a correct diagnosis is necessary. It has to be based on a clinical examination, history, and X-rays. I am not in a position to administer any of these to your husband over this limited forum. However, I can advise you to see a dentist. This is probably nothing. It can be a blood blister, or just plain tartar. I do advise you to have your husband see a dentist and make sure that this is really nothing.
