Question
i went to the dentist over a year ago for an extration and after the dentist tried to pull it he said the root was too strong. Now I'm sitting there with half my tooth gone and he tells me i have to go to an oral surgeon beacuse he couldnt go any further!i cried of just the thought of the pain again but he said the tooth would push its way up as my gums started to heal.Well it hasnt and im afraid its an infection growing under there. Can that happen although my gum is healed and my tooth is not exposed?? I just want to know so i can push to go and get it removed but only if its necessary lol..

Answer
Nicole - That dentist was totally wrong. A broken off tooth is an accident waiting to happen.  A tooth will never push itself up higher.  You need to see a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon to remove the remainder of the tooth before you get a major infection.  Do not put this off.  The longer you wait the chance of having a problem will grow.

So find a surgeon to remove the remaining part of the tooth.
