Question
One of my front teeth became very loose and had to be pulled.  My dentist said i had advanced periodontal disease and many of my top teeth are loose.  I just had the deep cleaning and he wants me back in 3 months.  I have a partial denture for my missing front tooth.  He told me i could not receive an implant.  He would like to remove all of my top teeth, which i refused.  Now he seems disinterested in treatment and wont fix any cavities i have in my top teeth.  Is this normal?  I feel that i should go to a periodontist, but he wont refer me.  What do you think?

Answer
Hi Karen,

I'd recommend you go see a periodontist. This is a dentist that specializes in just the gums and bone around teeth. This person is best qualified to treat your oral disease.

Your dentist may be feeling frustrated that you are not accepting his treatment protocol. However, he should still offer you his professional services if needed.

Let me know if you need anything else!
