Dentistry/Chipped tooth after crown inserted

Question
Hi Dr. Mosery,

Thank you in advance for your help.

Last Monday, I had a crown put on my first lower molar on the left side.  My
face was numb from the procedure, so I could not tell if I needed a bite
adjustment.  This past week, I have begun to feel that the crown was a bit too
"high".  I was experiencing some mild aches on my top left tooth line.  I was
going to call the dentist about this after the holiday weekend. When I awoke
today, however, I noticed that I have a small chip on the molar directly above
the crown.  It does not seem large at all, but is rough to the touch.

I have already left a message with the dentist to try to get this taken care of
when they return to the office.  Do you think this needs to be repaired earlier
than Tuesday though? I am just afraid that more night time grinding will
cause further damage?

Thank you for your insight.

Best regards,
Megan

Answer
The high bite is a problem.Don't challenge that side with anything tht requires alot of chewing.Get it taken care of as soon as you can.The upper tooth could most probably be polished so that it will be smooth again.I would prefer to have the dentist that placed the crown do any alterations to same.
