Question
Hello My name is Travis Rycroft, i just retired from playing professional hockey, i currently wear a partial that holds four teeth. I am now ready for a permanent fixture. I am opting for the bridge, but have a question on my gums. They have receded over the past couple of years, and wonder how much more they will recede. I ma 28 years old, and wonder when i am in 60's what will happen. And is the bridge a good way to go.

Answer
If you're a candidate, implants are the way to go.As we get older the gums tend to receed.Normal recession is .1mm per year.Other factors that will cause more than normal recession include, bite issues and gum problems.A tooth retained bridge  will involve preparing healthy teeth adjacent to the space.Implants on the other hand will leave those adjacent teeth alone.implants are the way to go.
