Question
went to dentist because of pain in upper molar - next to
last; said I needed a root canal. Was unable to complete
procedure and said all 3 root were calcified. Said I needed
to either extract it or consult with endodentist who might
be able to open canal and perform root canal. Said there
was abysses so although he suggests extracting it need to
wait until Friday anyway. What do you feel should be done?

Answer
Dear Louise,

It sounds like he gave you good advice.  I think you should go to an endodontist for a second try at doing the root canal. Endodontists do have extra training and experience in doing root canals and sometimes they are able to complete difficult root canals. If he is unable to negotiate the canals you can always have it extracted then.

It doesn't sound it doesn't sound like waiting until Friday will be a problem.  If you symptoms get worse you can ask if it can be removed sooner, but it probably will not be necessary.

I hope this information was helpful to you and please feel free to contact me again with any future dental questions.
