Dentistry/Root canal gone bad

Question
HELP! I'm so upset. About 5 years ago I while a dentist was doing a root canal the tip of the instrument brook in the root (or somewhere up there). It is the left tooth next to my direct front tooth. About the only asset on my body these days are my teeth. Everything has been fine until now but about 2 days ago, I noticed the tooth is becoming discolored. Is it dying? And if so, what do I do? I'm so upset. Thanks for your help.

Answer
The file probably is no problem. Obviously if you have had a root canal already the tooth, or more accurately the pulp, is no longer in it, which is what a "root canal", or more accurately endodontic therapy, accomplishes. If it is discoloring, it is probably due to either pulp remnants or sealer in the tooth. This often can be corrected. See your local endodontist.
