Dentistry/Stop TMJ

Question
Hi,
I noticed you said that you found a way to "treat" your TMJ i was wondering if you could give some more details about that. Also i noticed in one of your previous posts that anxiety increases it, my TMJ is affecting my eye so naturally i'm very worried and unhappy about that. Any suggestions on how to relax?
Thanks

Answer
Raghad,
My dentist made me a nightguard which is a must if you grind/clench your teeth.  I was also given ultrasound, did some jaw exercises (you can find in books on TMJ, in the library, and they are very simple), added some aerobic exercise to my routine, stayed away from hard chewy foods for awhile, had acupuncture, used a device called the alpha-stim100 which you need a Rx for, and can order on the net.

YOu can try relaxation tapes or meditation ones to relax, or do anything that you find relaxing that takes you away from your daily routine for a short time.  Exercise is good also, for any kind of pain in the body.

I have not heard of TMJ affecting one's eye.

Hope this helps.

I AM NOT A DENTIST!!!!!!!! PLEASE DON'T ASK ME ANY QUESTIONS THAT SHOULD BE ANSWERED BY A DENTAL PROFESSIONAL..but I have had TMJ so I can answer questions on how I finally got my TMJ under control. I have several things I have done to treat myself, plus suggestions on what professionals to seek out, exercises, the best nightguard devices, etc..

Experience

I've had TMJ for over six years.
