Question Is it true that bone can regenerate itself? How long would it take? Are there supplements that can help with the process?
Answer Dear alicia,
In the dental/periodontal context, bone has only a very limited capability of regeneration. In most cases, attempts to restore bone volume and contour involve the use of surgical bone grafts.
Unless there is a specific nutritional deficiency that is relevant to bone metabolism (for example, calcium or vitamin D), the administration of nutritional supplements does not favor the regeneration of periodontal bone.
