i would just like to add,, if at all the the sensitivity is increasing and as u put it that the crack is in a "favourable direction" a root canal with removal of the cracked portion if required followed by a post and core treatment should not be that bad an idea.. however i completely agree to one fact.. must wait for a little while to actually know how your tooth reacts,, as in does the level of sensitivity inreases or decrease with time..
