Question I been having a lot of pain in my tooth, I went to my dentist and was told that the possible cause was that the previous filling was to high up, she scraped the filling but did not take any x-rays and sent me home, after about 3 hours the pain came back and it continues to do so every 3/4 hours, I'm taking painkillers but it does not stop the pain at all, my dentist says that I don't have a cavity. Can she know for sure without taking x-rays, Could there be any other reasons. I'm 21 years old, very healthy. Thank you
Answer Dear M: It sounds like you have a nerve in one of your teeth that is inflamed or infected. You need to see your dentist once more, or another dentist, or have your dentist refer you to an endodontist (dentists who specialize in treating the nerves inside your teeth). Contact one of these as soon as you can. dd
