Dentistry - My sons teeth aren't coming in

Expert: Jeff Dalin DDS - 9/8/2009

Question
My son is 6 will be 7 in 3 months, he lost 6 baby teeth approximately 6 months ago and only 2 have come in right away.   How long can it take for the adults to come in.  When should I be concerned?

Answer
sometimes it takes 6-9 months go get some in. the best way to really know what is going on is to go in to the dentist and get an xray and exam. you want to make sure permanent teeth are not getting caught under remaining baby teeth...you want to make sure there is enough room for the permanent teeth to come in....you want to make sure the permanent teeth are there. these are 3 simple possibilities of what could be causing the delay in seeing the teeth. an xray and exam will answer all questions. make the call. good luck,
