Dr. Tieg,After receiving an implant, how long do I wait before adding the crown?

Joe - After an implant in placed in the bone, it takes a minimum of 4-6 months for the implant to fuse to the bone.  Until there is that fusion, a crown should not be placed or the implant will be under too much stress and it could fail.

So wait the 4-6 months with 6 months the time I usually recommend to insure success.
