Dentistry/repair ceramic veneer on a gold crown

Question
The facial ceramic veneer on an upper central incisor with a gold crown has broken off.

What cosmetic options are available to to repair this crown without its removal?

A response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

Answer
sometimes we can repair these by bonding plastic over the front of the crown. these repairs are not always the strongest. i do usually try this for my patients but tell them if it does not hold, then we might have to make a new crown. plastic is used to cover the front of the crown. ask your dentist if he/she will try a repair first...before considering making a new crowns (now this also assumes that the crown fits well, no decay around edges, etc).

good luck
