Dentistry/Amalgam Fillings

Is there any test to see if my fillings could be behind the cause of some of my health issues.  Obviously removing them might tell - but not sure of that step yet.  I was hoping there would be a blood test to see if there are toxic levels of metal\mercury?  I'm 45 and had all 5 fillings over 30 yrs ago.  I have had chronic daily headaches since late 20's.  I'm searching for answers as to the cause and ruled out many things except this.  Was hoping there was a test that could tell me before I take the drastic measure of having my teeth refilled!  I'm also currently being evaluated for MS.  Having various symptoms. Thank you in advance.

Karen, please excuse the delay in answering your question, for some unknown reason it just arrived today.
Sorry to hear about your chronic headaches. There is very, very, little evidence or indication that silver amalgam fillings could be related to headaches in anyway.
The fillings do not release any mercury into your body and headaches are not a sign of mercury in the body.
Also, if the headaches come and go , or differ in intensity, your amalgam fillings are not a likely cause , since their presence is a constant.
Hope you find some relief, but I do not believe removing your fillings will help.
All the best,
Dr. Moss
