Dentistry/Tongue thrusting :-(

Hi My name is Sarah Elder, here's a little about my dental history. I have had braces already I fixed my overbite but... .. then when i had my braces removed I pushed my teeth back out.  I'm wondering if I got implants would I be able to push the implants out? I went to one dentist/ orthodontist and he told me he wanted to put braces back on me for 3 years.... . and go to a speech therapist. I had another one tell me he wanted to put braces on me for a year and a half and do double jaw surgery. I've been practicing tongue thrusting exercises for the last 2 years. I'm not sure what to do to fix this problem? I would love to send you pictures? I also live in Utah and was wondering if you recommend anybody?

Dear Sarah,

I'm sorry to hear what you're going through.  Without photos or X-rays and meeting you, here's my advice.  Before anything, obtain from your orthodontist his commitment to place fixed retainers after treatment.  Then Retreat with braces followed by fixed retainers.  Fixed retainers are cemented to the front teeth.  They remain on your teeth for many years.  It is likely that you will need retention for life

Say no to surgery.
