Question I am doing some university work on dental fillings, and was wondering if the composition is breaking, what mechanical tests could i do to sort out the problem? Thankyou for your time and hope to hear from you soon.
Answer Dear Jimmy,
I don't pretend to be an expert in dental materials research, since I am primarily a clinician. However, perhaps I can point you in the right direction.
I am not sure what you mean by "the composition is breaking". Just what mechanical property or characteristic are you interested in testing-- compressive strength? tensile strength? hardness? stiffness (rigidity?) Perhaps you refer to the loss of filler particles from composite resin material? Please explain, and try to be specific.
