Dentistry - Fluorosis/Treatment

Question
I've suffered with this hideous disfigurement for all of my life. I'm now 22, and a single mom, and I find it very difficult to be taken seriously or acquire a great job, which I attribute to the appearance of my teeth. I've talked to many dentists about my treatment options, and they all tell me that veneers are really the only way to go. I have the composite bonding on two of my teeth, and after 12 years, it has turned butter-yellow, developed pits, and now has black-brown streaks forming in it. I do not want this again, but I cannot afford the veneers. My dental insurance will not cover it, because they feel it is a cosmetic issue only. Supporting three people on a salary of $24k a year does not allow me the money necessary to get my teeth fixed. Are you aware of any organizations that can help by covering most or all of the costs of having my teeth repaired?

Answer
hi brandy
i really am not sure if there is anything out there that handles this. there is one program called "Give Back A Smile" by the AACD. check it out here: www.aacd.com/givebackasmile/default.aspx
I think it is more for victims of domestic violence. But it is at least somewhere to start. Another option is to call a dental school. They do excellent work at greatly reduced fees. Maybe they can use you as a demonstration case. See if either of these ideas help out.
