I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed three days ago.  On my right side on the bottom, there seems to be an extra piece of gum that is a little loose.  It doesn't seem to be filling in the socket, but it's off to the side and I can't close my teeth together because I bite on it with my other molars.  It's just really in the way and I'm really afraid of hurting it.  Do I need to go back to my oral surgeon, or is this something that will go away on its own in a few days?  Is there anything I can do about it?

It could be either one.  It is normal to have a little loose gum tissue after wisdom tooth removal.  This will shrink over several weeks and go away on its own.  However, a larger loose section could occur if a stitch came out prematurely or the area wasn't stitched up completely.  If the loose skin is interfering with your bite, it is worth having the oral surgeon take a look at it just to be on the safe side.
