Dentistry/Root Canal

Question
Is it required to be put asleep during a root canal, or can it be done with local anesthesia? Also, how long does a root canal usually take if it's just one tooth?  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Stu,
Nah, it's no big deal. Actually, you get the same shot you would to have a filling done. In fact, except that you will be in the chair longer, anywhere from, say, 45 minutes to a couple of hours, depending on the tooth and level of difficulty, you would think you were having a filling done. So, not to worry - it will be over before you know it! Good luck.
