Question
I am new to this, and I appreciate and thank you beforehand for looking at my Question, About 3 months ago, I had a Root Canal on the tooth (molar) on the left side, bottom next to Wisdom Tooth, For some reason, now, when I eat something Warm or Cold, there is a Strong Pain Sensation for about 30 seconds or so, I am thinking about going back to my Dentist This Week to have him take a look at it, but sometimes, it feels like, he is not interested. But this Warm and Cold Sensation Pain Feeling after I eat something hurts along with this constant feeling on that root canal tooth that something is just still there. And what worries me say is if, he has to take the Crown out and re-do it, I dont know, if technically I should not pay for something that only happen 3 months ago, I look forward to your response

Answer
Dear Cee,

It is very rare to see sensitivity to heat and cold in a tooth that has had root canal treatment. One of two things has happened:
1. The root canal was performed either incompletely or improperly, or
2. There is another tooth responsible for your sensitivity.

It is possible that either root canal treatment was performed on the wrong tooth, or perhaps more than one tooth required root canal therapy.

You will need to return to your dentist for further assessment. If your dentist is unable to determine the problem, you should request a referral to an endodontist (root canal specialist).

Hope this helps...
