QuestionHi many thanks for your prompt reply. I am actually having to go into hospital with an overnight stay as they are going to take bone from my hip to do the grafting. I have questioned my doctor about the procedure but he says its routine but I still need to know in more detail. What can you advise? Sincerely Carol

Hi, I am going to have a sinus lift with bone grafting and am terrified of what to expect with this surgery. Please can you advise if it is considered major surgery and is it safe? Also is it is extremely painful post operatively? What can I expect. I would be grateful for your advice. Sincerely Carol
Answer -
It's a routine procedure done under local anesthetic(just like if your having a filling ) The doctor should give you all this info before and after the procedure ie: don't blow your nose,Don't sneeze through your nose etc.I do this procedure with very little discomfort if any at all.You should be fine. Go over all your concerns with the treating doctor BEFORE you have it done.
Good Luck,

AnswerI'm not familiar with your case. Ofcourse your own bone is the best choice for a graft material but usually we place Autologous bone (cadaver bone) with other marerials like HydroxyApetite etc.The way you're doing it is the gold standard but I have yet to even recommend this option let alone do it.
PS I took the time to answer your question in an honest and knowledable fashion. You should be ashamed of yourself for having left a negative feedback.Go do your homework before you rate my knowledge. You'll find how
