Question
I know you just answered a similar question but it has been 6 days since I had a filling and I am still in bad pain in my jaw when opening my mouth and still have swelling in my cheek and when I put any pressure on the too th that was filled I have severe shooting pain that lasts for hours in the tooth.  I also developed an open sore close to where the injection was put to numb me that has finally started to heal.  When should I start being concerned?

Answer
Dear Reneta,

A week is already too long to endure what you describe as "bad pain". You should return to your dentist at your earliest opportunity to assess the situation, because the postoperative course you indicate would not be considered normal, and may necessitate further professional intervention.

Good luck!
