i have developed TMJ in last two years due to both misaligned jaw and stress.  I am trying to find a good dentist/doctor and any suggestions would be helpful. I live in NYC and am close to NYU dental school

It's good that you live in NY.  THe best dentist that can treat your TMJ is in Manhattan and also Valley Stream, NY (long Island).  The number in Manhattan is 212 752 3000.  In L.I.: 516-791-4000.  HIs name is Dr. Barry Rozenberg.  His nightguard, after trying lots of others, is the most comfortable for me.  He has had TMJ himself and knows a lot about it's treatment, etc.and is very good at treating it.  He'll give you other therapies also, not just a nightguard.  He is the head of the TMJ Dept. (or was) at NYU Dental.  I would call him right away!  Good luck.  I know you will be pleased with him.
