Question
Hello Dr. Dalin,
I have tried several kinds of teeth whitening over the years from carbamide peroxide to hydrogen peroxide, in diff. strength even also tried the maximum strengths but none of them are working for me.  The first time I tried this was about 10 years ago, purchased from my dentist, a Rembrandt brand and made me custom made trays and that worked wonders for me.  Several years later when I had yellow teeth again I used the same and started using others but none are working thus far.
I'd like to know why teeth whitening is no longer working for me.
I am not taking antibiotics, my discoloration are most likely from drinking cola, I don't smoke or drink wine.
Also, is there another alternative for me?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Answer
Jay,
I am not sure why bleaching worked then and no longer is working for you. I would have your dentist check your bleach trays to make sure they fit properly. Plus I would try different brands. We like Nite White 22%. Opalescence 20% is another good one. See if they work. They are dentist dispensed and not over the counter. If your dentist is stumpled, perhaps get a second opinion from a different dentist who likes to do cosmetic dentistry. Drinking cola should not make your teeth that dark unless you are drinking a ridiculous amount per day. Without seeing you in person, I cannot venture any other guesses. This is why I want a dentist to see you in person and evaluate things. Good Luck. Feel free to re-contact me if you have any other questions.
