Dentistry/Temporary adhesive for Veneer

Question
I have a veneer that has popped off a couple of times. My dentist just recemented it last week and stated that we will need to replace it if it happens again. It popped off again but my dentist is closed today. Before when it would pop off, I could reseat it and it would seal itself until I could get to the dentist. This time it is not staying on. What can I do to get it to adhere until I can get in to see my dentist on Monday? I have tried the toothpaste trick but it is not working.

Thanks,
Michelle

Answer
Michelle,

Hopefully you have been to the dentist by now.  There really isn't much that can be done at home to reattach a veneer.  Using vaseline or toothpaste could potentially damage the veneer by interfering with the rebonding chemistry.  It also leaves you at risk of swallowing or aspirating the veneer.

Best wishes,

Steve
