Question
I will replacing the 1st molar with an implant.
I have to delay that for one year.
My concern is the integrity of the permanent crown on the tipped tooth.

Question -
I have to have a root canal and crown put on my 2nd molar. It has tipped somewhat because of missing 1st molar. I cannot replace the 1st molar for at least a year. If I crown the 2nd molar, will it tip too much and compromise the seal of the crown until I can replace the other tooth?

If you are thinking of doing a bridge to replace the missing first molar then you cannot do the crown now and a bridge in a year. This would mean taking off the new crown and making a new one as part of the bridge. One option is to do a temporary crown now and protect the root canal tooth and then do the permanent crown as part of the bridge in a year. Ask your dentist about this possibility. Good luck...let me know if you have any new questions.

Answer
if you are doing an implant then you can do the permanent crown at any time. in fact, when they do the crown, they will be trying to upright the back molar with the new crown...creating a better space for the implant. doing the implant will not interfere with the integrity of the new crown at all. discuss the advantage of doing this crown now and making the tilting tooth more upright. i am sure he/she will agree. good luck
