Dentistry - braces

Question
hello there,
i have had braces for 2 years now and started smoking about 2 months ago. somebody told me that i will have yellow staines from smoking after removing the braces. is that true?
thanks

Answer
Nattalie,
Smoking can make teeth yellow with or without braces. If you have plastic brackets, the smoking will turn those yellow fairly quickly. If you have had them on for 2 years, then perhaps you are due to get them off soon. The best way to keep your teeth bright is to try to stop the smoking altogether. You have only been doing it for 2 months so you have a good chance of stopping fairly easily. Good Luck,

Jeff Dalin, DDS
