Dentistry/Could I get a keloid scar from oral surgery?

As a kid I had a really bad keloid behind one ear (after having my ears pinned back), they tried removing by surgery, it grew back bigger, they then tried removing just half with surgery, it grew back even bigger.

From the age of about 11 - 17 I lived with it, grew hair long to cover it, was really REALLY self-concious about it, was horrible, they also tried steroid injections, nothing worked.

At about 17 I was referred to a doctor in Lancashire, I had about 7 or 8 operations under local anaestethic, basically each operation he would:

- Inject it to numb it

- Freeze three spots in it

- Thaw out the frozen spots

- Possibly inject again (I can't quite remember - I'm 33 now)

Each time the three areas would scab over and everntually come off, leaving a crater i nthe huge scar. After 7 or 8 operations, I had a normal ear again - life changing and I'll never forget the doctor that improved my quality of life! :-)

I hope this helps and definitly worth mentioning!
