Dentistry/flipper (temporary tooth)

Question
Since I will be wearing this flipper, until I get my implant and the healing time. How should I care for it? As far as sleeping, eating drinking with it. If I do'nt want to sleep with it should I just place it in a clean papertowel? Or place it into a container? Just want to make sure I'm giving it the proper care.
                            Thanks, Ms. Lisa

Answer
Dear Ms. Ochoa,

Unless your dentist has advised otherwise, you should:
-wear your flipper during the day, and remove it to clean it and before going to sleep
-keep it submerged in room-temperature water when it will not be in your mouth for more than a few minutes
-clean it after meals and before taking it out for the night. Use a toothbrush and gently scrub all surfaces of the flipper. Use of toothpaste is optional.
-consult with your dentist if there is any pain or soreness while you are wearing the flipper.

Hope this helps...
