Dentistry/fluoride treatment for 4 year old

Question
I recently took my 4yr old to the dentist for a cleaning/check-up and they asked it I wanted a fluoride treatment.  I said sure.  Now, one week later, she has irregular tooth color.  She has white streaks on her front teeth.  I called the dentist office back and they said her teeth could be dehydrated or she could have too much fluoride.  I've had trouble getting her to use toothpaste on a regular basis - we usually just brush with water.  I'm just wondering if there's any connection between the fluoride treatment at the dentist office and this problem.  Your opinion is greatly appreciated?

Thank you.

one topical dose of fluoride cannot cause this. i really have no other explanations for you...especially without seeing the teeth in person. as far as daily using toothpaste goes, try different brands and flavors. you should be able to find one she will tolerate. and use very little paste...do not overload the brush. if the streaks persist, maybe have another dentist take a look and give you an opinion. let me know if you have any other questions. good luck...
