Dentistry/forever pain

Question
Hello,
My daughter was recommended to have a small filling in #18.  There was no pain prior to this and she developed ulcers in the area of the deadening medicine within a week of her visit.
The dentist put her on antibiotics and prescribed pain medicine that wound up going for two rounds.  Then he said the nerve was probably injured and she would have to see an endodontist for a root canal.  The root canal was completed two weeks ago and now she's still in the same amount of pain.  Where do we go from here?
thanks,
Mery

Answer
Hi Mery

Well - there are two possibilities here - firstly the tooth may just need a bit of time to settle from the treatment, although generally you should be finding that it is improving certainly as it is two weeks since it was treated.

Alternatively the pain may not be connected to that tooth and there may be another problem going on. Either way I think you ought to take your daughter back to the dentist and let them have another look.
