Dentistry/why would my gums hurt?

Question
I would like to know why my gums would be hurting? I know that I do not go to a dentist and the reason why I do not go to a dentist is because I have no health insurance and I do not want to spend a lot of money on a dentist every six months.

Answer
Margaret,
I am not a dentist.  I try to help people with TMJ, as I have had that condition.  Sometimes when people clench their teeth at night, it makes the jaw muscles tight and pain is referred into the teeth and gums.  But of course, I have no way of knowing if you do clench.  You would really have to direct your question to a dental professional.  Good luck.

I AM NOT A DENTIST!!!!!!!! PLEASE DON'T ASK ME ANY QUESTIONS THAT SHOULD BE ANSWERED BY A DENTAL PROFESSIONAL..but I have had TMJ so I can answer questions on how I finally got my TMJ under control. I have several things I have done to treat myself, plus suggestions on what professionals to seek out, exercises, the best nightguard devices, etc..

Experience

I've had TMJ for over six years.
