Dear expert
Hi
I am 57 years old woman.i wear denture. i have problem with gums at bottom side as swelling,pain too much with denture.i changed my dentures three times in 4 years.My dentures bother me alot while eating anything.please recommend something to me to solve my problem.

Madhu,

I am sorry to hear that you are uncomfortable.  There are several possibilities:

1. If there are infections or unremoved pieces of tooth beneath the denture, these can cause swelling and soreness.  Your dentist can take x-rays to confirm that all teeth have been completely removed and to check for infections.

2. Many people find it difficult to wear lower dentures because they have too little jaw ridge to adequately support the denture.  The best solution is the placement of dental implants.  Implants are man-made replacements for previously lost teeth.  They provide the support for a denture that was lost when the natural teeth were removed.  Dental implants have helped previous denture sufferers to be able to eat, chew, and smile again with confidence.
