Experience I was the Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Maryland Dental School in 1981. I served as a General Practice Resident at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore in 1981-82, and have been in private dental practice since that time. My practice is now located in Owings Mills, MD, a suburb of Baltimore. My studies at The L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education in Florida has enriched my practice and my patients. It was there that I learned the true meaning of excellence.
Question i got a wisdom tooth out 5 days ago and the gum it was taken from is very rough when I feel it with my tongue and theres a small bit of skin/gum hanging off,Its probably because I am at it with my tongue all the time ,what should I do?
Answer Mark,
Unless you are in severe pain, leave it alone. Nature will usually take care of it in time. There is a chance that an edge of loose or dead bone may be exposed. Nature will usually smooth this out in time. If not, your treating dentist/ surgeon may need to remove the rough edge later. It is best not to play with this area with your tongue. Constantly doing so increases the risk of complications.
