Subject: dry spot on lip

Question
i have never had any problems with my skin, and in my 24 years i have never had a cold sore, but i just recently noticed a dry spot on my top lip. it doesnt hurt or sting or anything, its just really dry. i had a fever the day before i noticed it and thought i may have been a fever rash or fever blister? it kind of looked like a rash at first with little tiny pin hole size red bumps, but now its just dry. there is no swelling in the area either. its not very noticeable. i wondered if you would be able to tell me if it is anything serious.

Answer
There are a number of possibilities for the spot on your top lip. The spot could have been the results of a fever blister or cold sore which is Herpes.  The spot could have been an allergic reaction to something that got on the skin of the lip.  The spot could have been an irritation of the skin brought about by some chemical.  If the lesions is herpetic it will return in time.
