Dermatology/Concern about purple welts

Question
my boyfriend is 19 he has had skin issues since he was about 12, he had to have skin cancer spots removed, he has horrific pimples that turn purple and are highly painful to him, and he randomly has purple welts as well like the size of the head of a nail some the size of a maccadamian nut (that do not hurt him)
I'm getting very worried, I think he should see his doctor, should I be concerned?
