Dermatology - White Spot on my thumb

Expert: Michael S. Fisher, Ph.D., M.D. - 10/27/2009

Question
I reckon it's probably nothing but I'm asking just in case and because I've had it for about a month. I have a single white spot on the near center of my thumb. It looks like you could pop it but I've tried and I can't. It's about 2 x 1 cm and is under the skin. It doesn't hurt when pressed.

Answer
The white spot could be a cyst under the skin or it could be the beginning of a wart. The area of the skin in the picture what not very clear and one cannot make a diagnosis from the picture.
The lesion could also have been the beginning of a blister. Since I cannot see the lesion, you may want to visit a dermatologist to make sure of the diagnosis.
