Expert: Michael S. Fisher, Ph.D., M.D. - 10/24/2009

Question
Hi, I have dark indian skin and was wondering what options I have to lighten my skin as much as possible. Maybe up to a latino skin tone.

Answer
The typical topical agents used to lighten the skin are bleaching agents. The active ingredient in HYDROQUINONE. There is the prescription Tri-Luma which is very effective and you use the medication until the desired color is obtained. It is better to use the medication on the areas you want lightened and not over the whole face.
